Create a Business on Your Own Terms: A Better Path for Women Entrepreneurs

In this episode of the Fearless Females Podcast, Meghann shares what it really takes to create a business on your own terms.
From realizing women aren’t built for the 24/7 hustle model, to tuning into intuition as a business tool, she walks through the shifts that changed everything. If you’ve ever felt like success required sacrificing your well-being, this conversation offers a different way forward.
One that honors your rhythm, your vision, and the leadership style that’s actually sustainable.
Women Are Not Built Like Men. That Admission Alone Is Our Edge.
Biologically, women typically experience a 28-day average menstrual cycle. Meanwhile, most business systems are based on a 24-hour male hormone rhythm. That’s not a dig at men, it’s just a mismatch for us to notice.
When we try squeezing into frameworks that weren’t built for our bodies, our energies, or our brains, we eventually feel misaligned, burned out, and like we’re falling short. When all we were trying to do was thrive in a system that wasn’t made for us.
It’s like molding ourselves into a box when we were meant to be round and voluptuous ๐ like many of us are!
Your power, the kind that fuels real clarity, energy, and momentum, comes from syncing with your natural rhythm. Not fighting it.
That realization is exactly where The Dames was born from: women need an aligned growth model that doesn’t shock our nervous systems the way hustle culture has.
When we stop forcing ourselves to operate like men, we unlock the way we were actually built to lead.
Build the Business You Actually Want
It’s easy to fall into the trap of “shoulding” ourselves into a corner. Most of us start by mimicking what we see as it’s all we’ve ever known.
- “You should structure your business like that leader.”
- “You should offer that service.”
- “You should push through.”
Eventually, the “shoulds” get so loud that they drown out our own voices.
The most powerful shift we can have is slowing down long enough to ask: What do I actually want?
Even when the answer feels blurry or bold or entirely impractical… name it anyway!
That question (and honest answer) unlocks a new path: one that reflects our values, strengths, way of being, and our personal definition of success.
And if that model doesn’t exist yet? That’s your sign to build it!
That’s exactly what Meghann did. When she tuned into her intuition and spiritual practice in 2012, her vision sharpened. It didn’t come overnight, but the moment she stopped outsourcing her direction, the right path began to take shape.
The Inner Critic Is Loud, But It’s Hiding Something Deeper
That voice of doubt shows up for all of us.
The inner critic compares, questions, and second-guesses. And worse, it can sound a lot like intuition.
It says things like:
- “You’re not ready.”
- “You’re not enough.”
- “This isn’t practical.”
Real intuition is steady… It’s grounded.
It doesn’t spin us out but rather guides us forward.
Learning to distinguish between a masquerading inner critic and guided intuition is one of the most powerful leadership tools we’ll ever develop.
And when we build a relationship with our deeper voice (whether we call it intuition, inner wisdom, or a Higher Power), it shifts everything.
That voice will guide your decisions, your growth, and your alignment. And most importantly? It will remind you that you were never meant to build like someone else.
You were meant to build as you.
