The Lie We’ve Been Fed & Why Fun Does Belong in Business.

Making Business More Enjoyable
When Meghann first started her business, “fun” was the last word she associated with leadership. Business was supposed to be buttoned-up, serious, all spreadsheets and stiff handshakes.
Fast-forward a decade, and now fun is one of The Dames’ top two values (right next to love), and it fuels everything we do.
Maybe fun isn’t your top value, and that’s totally fine. The point isn’t to copy/paste someone else’s blueprint. It’s to uncover what’s true for you and unapologetically build around it.
When you lead with your values, you magnetize the right people and repel the wrong ones. (And honestly, isn’t it better to stop those at the door who don’t get you anyway?)
Busting the Timing Myth
We’ve all been sold the lie: “It’ll be fun when…”
When you hit six figures.
When you cross seven.
When you finally have the “perfect” team.
Yeah, no. Total BS.
Fun isn’t some prize waiting at the finish line; it’s the fuel that gets you there.
At The Dames, joy is baked into our business model. It’s sparked our creativity, built a thriving team, and made growth sustainable. We even have a name for it: our reverse mullet system - party in the front, inspiration in the back.
We kick off masterminds, significant events, and collaborations with humor because when women laugh together, walls crumble and tensions ooze to the floor.
The Lie We’ve Been Fed
Women are told not to be “too much.” Too loud. Too playful. Too quirky. We’re warned that if we let loose, we won’t be taken seriously.
Talk about pure patriarchal programming!
When Meghann first started incorporating improv and characters into her work, some people gave her a side-eye. But others lit up and said, “Wait… I can do that?”
That’s the power of showing up fully; it cracks the door open for other women to walk through theirs.
The fear doesn’t disappear overnight. People will judge. But if nobody’s judging, you’re probably not playing big enough anyway. The key is remembering: their judgment isn’t about you, it’s about their own unhealed stuff.
Meghann and Melissa shared so much more on Your Relationship With Fun—from busting hustle culture myths to facing fear head-on.
